This is my submission for the current challenge by @pwnisher titled "Kinetic Rush." I created a Temu version of Across the Spider-Verse, and I focused on replicating some of the distinctive effects from the film. For instance, I added lines in bright areas and included a halftone effect, reminiscent of old comic books. I also incorporated chromatic aberration in the out-of-focus areas to enhance the visual depth.
Initially, my animation concept revolved around the mobile game Vector. Since it’s a parkour-based game with a character being chased, I thought it would fit well. However, midway through, I felt it was too simple and overly dark or neon-colored. So, I decided to switch things up a bit. I’m not entirely sure if it worked, but here it is—a somewhat mediocre take on that legendary film.
The second part of the portal scene was inspired by Sin City. I loved the film's gritty, comic book-like style and noir vibe, so I tried to evoke that atmosphere with the sound design too.
Due to time constraints, I sourced some of the models from Sketchfab, and sound effects were taken taken from mixkit and pixabay.
